6.1: Let’s Practice At Home

Fast food — from a restaurant, the convenience store or your fridge — generally has a high amount of calories in it. Reducing fast food consumption can decrease the amount of calories you eat. Eating smaller portions, exchanging some of the menu option for one that has less calories, or reduce the fat in the ingredients, such as bacon in your sandwich, are good ways to decrease calories in your meals.

Do one or more of these activities at home:

  1. Share your fast food order with someone instead of eating it by yourself.
  2. Have “fast food” in your fridge: prepare ground beef beforehand and freeze it in small portions, so you can use it when you need it. You can also buy a roasted chicken and take all the meat and freeze it, so you can use it in different meals.
  3. Try food that has lower calories in fast food restaurants.
